After the tragic death of Michael Jackson, he grew more famous. “The weeks immediately after the pop icon died were chaotic.” (cnn article) Following his death, Michael Jackson's imperfect image has seen a rehabilitation of epic proportions. His reconstructed face, his reclusive tendencies, the accusations of his improprieties with young children — all have fallen away in the wake of his sudden, untimely passing. "There's an expression for that: In death, all is forgiven," says Marc Schaffel, Jackson's former business partner. "Or at least forgotten.” (TIME article) Now, everyone saw Michael for Michael, not his flaws or accusations, just him and his music. His fans came back full force after he passed away. Also many, who never got the chance to become a fan during his lifetime, checked out his music and became fans instantly. It’s easy to say almost everyone knew of “Michael Jackson” after this. Many times once an artist passes away they receive more recognition after their death. More people downloaded his music, bought his albums. Sales were up again and he instantly received more success, even though he wasn’t alive to enjoy all the glory. The younger generation was introduced to some of his music and he gained many more fans. Television replays, his most famous hits, and tributes were all portrayed after he passed. The world came to know and fall back in love with Michael all over again. Even though it is bittersweet, more people came to respect him for the musical genius he was.
